Description
Here be my entry for the first round of the 2018 
The topic was: Winter feels
We were supposed to let the colour of the outfit reflect how our OC feels about entering this pageant and/or how they feel about winter. The colours were supposed to help in making a first impression of our OC. The setting was a park where all the contestants were meeting each other for the first time.
And here we go!
Mirva arriving to the park meet and greet in style. Escorted of the sleigh by her aid in the person of Albert (he is a goblin, daoin and human mix, thus the long 'paws').
Detailed clothing description.
For this occasion and weather she decided on a warm, black and white, fur coat. It has black cuffs made of black fur splashed with an iridescent like effect and rich, dark red lining. Over the coat she has put on a white, fur poncho with black fur tassels. The poncho is obviously equipped with a large hood finished with a very puffy fur edge, and same dark red lining as the coat. Everything is finished off with red, black and golden accessories. Going from top to bottom: she has a black, velour wrap covering her head under the hood of the poncho (she didn't want her ginger hair to mess up the colour coordination of her outfit). Next we can see a splash of gold jewellery encrusted with black and white pearls and nacre (mother of pearl). On her hands we see dark red gloves, made of elk skin, matching the lining of her coat. Her legs are covered with warm, woollen, beige stockings (intended for outside use only! And definitely not for the eyes of public!). Her feet are kept warm and dry by a pair of white leather, platform boots with a warm furry lining. (Also meant for outside use only, never to be seen in a restaurant, theatre or such. She has a pair of white pumps in the sleigh for that).
(If You wonder what is underneath the coat, it's a smart, royal blue jacket and a skirt ensemble.)
The colour meaning:
I have based the outfit mainly on three colours: white, red and black, and it's all jam-packed with meaning!
What's with all the dull white man?
White would be important in many ways to her. Firstly it's the colour of new beginnings and that resonates with her not only as this pageant is beginning of something new for her but also the winter is a beginning of new life waiting to sprout in spring. It isn't a colour really, it doesn't stimulate much in ones heart but it opens eyes on to a blank piece of paper, a new road of endless possibilities. It is her first step into something new and unknown (for me as well I guess).
Black? How basic.
Well Mirva is an elegant woman and You cannot say that black lacks in that department. Black is powerful, mysterious and protective, and that speaks to her when she thinks of the winter season, coating the world with a veil of snow, keeping its seeds hidden until spring. But what is more important there is a dialogue between black and white that would be spot on to describe Mirvas emotions towards the pageant. Whereas white uncovers truths black hides them, and this matches her stance on how to approach new challenges. She shows something new and real about her but always keeps something hidden only for her to know. White is inviting in its unaggressive nature, and black quite the opposite, it intimidates because it exudes power. She would never want to make people resent her because she is too cocky and out there, but she would also like to make sure everyone treats her seriously.
Mirva would like to think that she found the appropriate ratio of the two, leaning toward the white, but definitely not denying the black and its meaning, good and bad.
Dark red? For her? I don't get it.
Red is the little bit of pizzazz, and crazy. It's the excitement that she feels, but as a classy lady she doesn't want to show it too much. She is very excited that she joined the pageant, and very passionate about it. The little amount of the red, it being only on the glows and the lining of the coat, goes also nicely with the fact that winter is a very sleepy season for Mirva (for all the dryads), so even if she would find it appropriate to show more emotions toward the pageant, she would struggle to find the energy as she is very, very sleepy. (Thus the boring, reliable, beige stockings 
That You didn't see! Understood?).
I see some gold stuff there! Tell me about the gold stuff! I demand to know!
I'll tell you this, it has nothing to do with the winter season. Gold is the colour of success and who enters a pageant and doesn't think (even a bit) about succeeding. She likes success, she needs success, she demands it. Gold is winning, it's abundance and it's self-worth with a dash of self-centred. It's Mirva dreaming of winning this thing.
With this overtly covetous, golden accent I'm ending this very long and fatiguing description of my pageant entry. I had a blast drawing it, and can't wait for whatever the next round brings.
